About Camp

The Facility
Redwood Glen is nestled in the scenic coastal redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains between San Francisco and Santa Cruz, just thirty minutes south of Half Moon Bay. The Camp Facilities have a variety of cabins and lodges and are all conveniently close to each other, so classes, dining room and sleeping areas are not far apart. All cabins have bunk-beds, and are self-contained with bathrooms and showers. Children will be assigned to cabins with approximately eight campers and one staff, and separated male/female in supervised groups that are assigned by age..

Every effort will be made to assign friends to the same group if requests are noted on the application. We reserve the absolute right to make and change cabin groupings that we believe is in the best interest of the campers..

Meals
Campers will have three healthy meals a day served buffet style in the camp dining room, along with afternoon and evening snacks. Vegetarian meals are available by request. We are not equipped to prepare vegan or specialty diets.

Medical Care
Jam Camp West will provide an on-site resident licensed registered nurse available to administer first aid, dispense medication, or coordinate care in the event of a medical emergency. A major hospital is located in Redwood City, fifteen miles from the camp.

Cell Phones & Other Devices
Our goal is to provide our campers with a unique and natural experience away from home and the noise of city life. For this reason cell phones, IPods, IPads and laptops will be prohibited. Cell phones do not work at Redwood Glen.

What To Bring

  • ALL BEDDING including sleeping bags, pillows, warm blankets, sheets, etc. (evenings can get cold so please be prepared with warm bedding.)
  • Flashlight
  • Warm jackets or coats, hats, gloves and scarves
  • Shoes appropriate for walking, and outdoor activities
  • Bathing suit and towels
  • All instruments
  • Ear plugs (if you are not used to sleeping among other people)
  • Dancers: leotards, tights, sweat pants, sweat shirts, dance shoes

Clothing should be casual. Many classes are taught right outdoors so be sure to have a sweater and coat for mornings and evenings. It’s usually cool in the morning, very warm midday, and again cool (or cold) at night. We are in a redwood grove not far from the ocean. Weather can be extremely hot or cold, so be prepared for both with appropriate attire for varying temperatures.

Do Not Bring
money, candy, gum, food of any kind, knives, matches, spray items, cell phones (cell phones do not work!), IPads, IPods, or lap tops. We recommend not bringing a watch or jewelry of any kind. If brought, we will not be held responsible for lost or damaged items.
